Below find some quick tips on how to have the best time in each of these locations

New York

NEW YORK

New York City swallows many of America’s hometowns and can be an intimidating place to navigate. Here’s a few tips to get going:

  1. Don’t be afraid to ask a local: New Yorkers get a bad rap for being aggressive, but realistically any local is happy to help you find your way. My flight was changed to LaGuardia Airport and I couldn’t find my way to Manhattan. A local helped me dance around the marina airport area and flag a cab. He talked the cabbie into $11/ea for the 2 of us to Manhattan. What a deal for an airport ride!

1(B). DO NOT FLY INTO LAGUARDIA: JFK is a hub for NY transportation. LaGuardia is a desert.

    2. Public Transportation is your friend: Keep your eyes peeled for entrances every couple of blocks. The train ride from Harlem to Coney Island is more or less two hours, but it gets you there efficiently. There are entrances to te subway every few blocks and it runs 24 hours a day. Note: there is no data or reliable Wi-Fi underground.

    3.   Less is more: The city is moves at a million miles a second, meaning that you can slow down on your vacation. Enjoy what’s in front of you right now instead of seeking out the best of everything, you’ll tire yourself out. Cocktails, bagels, and city-slicker events are always available, The Faculty promises.
